Jot Clock is back
Your destination for Big Ten basketball thoughts and discussion, with occasional attention on the rest of the sport.
Here we are again.
I’d been writing about Big Ten men’s basketball for the past few years over at BTPowerhouse. That platform gave me several opportunities from covering Big Ten Media Days in Chicago, the Big Ten Tournament in Gainbridge Fieldhouse and Purdue’s Sweet Sixteen matchup against Houston in Lucas Oil Stadium. That’s all in the past tense because my time there has come to a close.
But I still want to write about this conference and its teams.
I started Jot Clock a few years ago and it slowly fell down my list of priorities for a few reasons. It was going to be my thoughts on the other leagues and teams, ironically. I’m back now.
I’d like for this to be a few different things. In some cases it may be my hasty thoughts immediately following a massive matchup, true to the Jot Clock name. In others it may be tracking a storyline I find interesting. Then there’s more base content like bracketology, previews, watchlists, etc.
Building this into something real would be a dream, truly. If (massive if here) it goes somewhere? Maybe paid subscriptions become a thing. Maybe they don’t. It’d be cool to see into the future, but we can’t.
The bigger the audience, the better the content. I love, more than anything, to attend these games and seek out the small details that may go unnoticed. Then attend the press conference or other media availabilities and ask about those details. That can really only happen with a viable audience.
As for content? I’ll put together a watchlist for the upcoming week, the usual “winners and losers” piece set for Monday morning and probably some thoughts on that Illinois-Michigan State matchup set to be played.
